But the main problem for tourists who want to visit these places is that they are unfamiliar with the routes of these places and also it is very challenging for them to navigate the places of Northeast. Gangtok based an Entrepreneur and 23 years old Mr. Rewaj Chettri have made a solution for the tourists by launching an app called "NE TAXI". 

NE TAXI helps Travellers to choose to rent a car or a minivan for local sightseeing, single and round-trip outstation rides or packaged itineraries that connect the eight Northeast states and West Bengal. In a recent interview, Mr. Rewaj speaks about the facilities tourist can get after booking the taxi with this app. He said that driver details are immediately sent to the customer to ensure there is no overbooking. The cabbies are all vetted and are conversant in English and Hindi. He also said that there is a new option i.e. "NE SHARE" in this app which attracts the Solo traveler, where they can pool rides.

“Every day has been a challenge,” Mr. Rewaj Chettri said, “But where there is a challenge, there are opportunities. The entire market is unorganized. In the northeast, more than 90% of taxi drivers don’t open the door for any tourist. We are working on training them to be very travel-oriented.”Cars are equipped with bottled water and first-aid kits while drivers are given an orientation in being courteous, handling emergencies and the sightseeing points of interest in an itinerary.

The startup, which claims to have a fleet of over 800 vehicles from all over the Northeast, says it has catered to more than 15,000 customers. India’s biggest taxi aggregators, Ola and Uber, operate in a few big cities, while NE Taxi claims to have taxis in 60 destinations in the Northeast. The startup has a team of 31 people in their core team and branches.

A 23yr old entrepreneur has been part of more than 20 startups including music app Cisum, hyperlocal laundry service Washer, delivery service Chitto, micro-investment, promotion, branding and accounting firm Sikkim Ventures, and photography platform Go Sikkim.
